JVP ‘a’ wave Pitting Pedal Edema Ascites Congestive Hepatomegaly Congestive Gastropathy Cardiac Cachexia CLINICAL FEATURES : CLINICAL FEATURES OTHER FEATURES Cold, Pale, Diaphoretic extremities ? urine output Urine albumin + High Sp. gravity Low conc. of Na Pre-renal azotemia Impotence & Depression (long standing HF) X-Ray features CLINICAL FEATURES : CLINICAL FEATURES DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS Respiratory Illness? Pulmonary embolism? Edema 2o to renal disease? Ascites due to liver disease? DIAGNOSIS : DIAGNOSIS MAJOR CRITERIA: Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnoea Neck vein distention Rales Cardiomegaly Acute pulmonary edema S3 gallop Increased venous pressure (>16cm H2O) Positive hepatojugular reflux Framingham Criteria DIAGNOSIS : DIAGNOSIS MINOR CRITERIA: Extremity edema Night cough Dyspnoea on exertion Hepatomegaly Pleural effusion VC ? by 1/3rd of normal Tachycardia (=120bpm) Framingham Criteria MAJOR OR MINOR CRITERIA: Weight loss = 4.5kg over 5 days treatment DIAGNOSIS : DIAGNOSIS TO ESTABLISH A DIAGNOSIS: Atleast ONE MAJOR and TWO MINOR criteria are required Framingham Criteria Slide 13: Thank You You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
