Presentation Description

The equipment used in nuclear medicine for scanning purpose is called Gamma Camera, it detects the Gamma rays coming from the patients body and maps out in to planar images by assistance of computers. PET is a unique type of gamma camera it detects metabolic activity and provides the cross section views in 2D OR 3D Modes.

nuclear cardiology :

nuclear cardiology Nuclear Cardiology has role in establishing the diagnosis of heart disease and in the assessment of disease extent and the prediction of outcomes in the setting of coronary artery disease. Myocardial Perfusion Imaging:Myocardial perfusion images are combined with exercise to assess the blood flow to the heart muscle. Exercise can be in the form of walking on the treadmill or riding a stationary bicycle. A "chemical" stress test using the drug dipyridamole, adenosine or dobutamine be performed in patients who are not able to exercise maximally, providing similar information about the heart's blood flow.
