"Language learning is the most common education-based activity in Second Life". Many mainstream language institutes and private language schools are now using 3D virtual environments to support language learning. A visit to UWA 3D Open Art Challenge!:

A visit to UWA 3D Open Art Challenge! Task: the UWA 3D Open Art Challenge. Please visit the place and write a post of your visit. Consider the following questions to help you write your report on this adventure in a virtual world. 1. What did you think of it? Take pictures of it. 2. Is this something that can be of help for your field of expertise? What are some of the applications you can see in your line of work? 3. Try to talk to someone attending the exhibition. Pick your favorite piece of art and send a message to the author asking about it. Take a picture of the piece and write why you liked it. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/UWA%20Winthrop/209/128/248 http://uwainsl.blogspot.com/2011/12/venezuelas-universidad-rafel-belloso.html

At the end, I must say that I'm very surprised about the infinity of things that you can create on this world. And how people show their abilities and imagination through it. It's like a different way to show your portfolio! Claret Cuberos http://claretcuberos.blogspot.com/

PowerPoint Presentation:

Arnaldo Lugo All in all, it left me thinking about the self-impose restrictions of my studying field, graphic design. Why an industry base of technology and innovation wont try to work with interactive pieces like this? I just imagine the positive effect something like this could bring to a consumer (and to the brand) if it were done right. I guess it's something people will have to experience for themselves to fully understand the concept. How great would be to learn how to do this 3D conceptual art pieces and apply them for advertising purposes? To see the whole piece in movement in front of your screen it's something really great, and the sound and visual effects create a very immersive atmosphere. The exhibition have lights and sounds that seemed to simulate stages of life or moments of pureness. http://arlucool.blogspot.com/2011/11/uwa-3d-art-experience-in-second-life.html

The project:

“S o as part of our non conventional learning methods of English classes (and I say that in a good way), the whole group of students had to elaborate a cultural and promotional campaign in Second Life to bring attention to our local Fair and make it more present in the SL community . Also, It's the perfect way to apply our design and English knowledge and make something beneficial out of them ” Arnaldo Lugo (2012) The project

Problems and Solutions :

Ok this is screen capture of me in second life.. I’m the egg you see below.. This is the Chinita's Fair we are creating. And Over here.. is our stand.. But It is in construction we need the money to upload the images. Teacher gave us some. Good! We have a little inconvenient in our university lab . so we can't upload images to Second Life . However we made a Photoshop make up and this is how it would look like on second life Vane Villamizar http://vanevillamizar.blogspot.com/2011/11/second-life.html Problems and Solutions

Memories of an Adventure: Best of 2 Worlds:

T hese whole 3 months of learning and experiencing Second Life have been a great adventure. I thank our English tutor not only for giving us tools for learning advance English, but also for being creative and having the vision of merging experimental methods with traditional teaching. Arnaldo Lugo (2011) W ith this campaign I realize that I'm good in analyzing the elements of a graphic design. I learn to use different elements to show my works and have critics from other persons. This was a good project and very interesting. I enjoy it a lot! hope everyone enjoy it as well. have fun! I love graphic design! :) Marysol Rincón (2011) http://marysolrincon.blogspot.com// I actually thought this was a very positive experience, not only we had to learn to build a stand in second life which can be very interesting because the possibilities are endless but we got to exercise team work and we also taught people about our culture. Andrea Suarez (2011) http://andreasuareznava.blogspot.com/2011/11/hello-dear-readers-this-time-i-will.html I think this experience was very interesting for all of us in the group, it is interesting to see how the virtual worlds can help us to amplify our graphic design skill, plus we get to share our creations with people from all over the world which is always good.
