He put a chart in front of me and covering my eye asked me to spell: E F P T E Z ANDA BUNCH OF OTHER LITTLE STUFF I COULDNT SEE Spectacular MeSlide 3: Then looking right at me he said, “The way I help some of my friends is to make for them corrective lenses. Here try these on and look in the mirror.” That was all it took— I could see just perfectly, and now just look at…spectacular me!: spectacular me!Slide 5: Lion The lion, in his perfect stealth, with golden hair, ivory teeth, and ice-cold stare,Slide 6: purrs, looks… peers, lunges…Slide 7: pounces…Slide 8: LUNCHCactus Conversation: Cactus Conversation Said the saguaro to the prickly pear, “Come tomorrow, do I dare pull up roots and leave this heat?” Said his partner in reply, “I think it might be worth a try, if you had some boots ...or even feet!”Sea in a Shell: Sea in a Shell Who could put an ocean in a spined and spiralled home? And where, then, is the salton sand, and where the foam, and the gale —That wind that drives the sailor to sea and brings him home?Slide 11: It seems an awkward notion that I hold in hand an ocean, and, holding it to my ear, can hear a world away from land and far from here. The Stuff Between My Toes: The Stuff Between My Toes I just don’t know what to make of it. Did it somehow sneak up and catch me off guard, or did I get it while out in the yard? I can’t tell what it is and nobody knows, but there’s certainly something between my toes. What is that stuff between my toes? I’ve searched and searched but nobody knows where it comes from or why it’s there; it can’t be crumbs, and it’s hardly hair. Nor is it ear wax, sweat, or spit.Porcupine: Porcupine The porcupine finds entertainment in causing pain with his needled raiment, boasting that he’s a creature of skill with nothing to share but a pointed quill. He thinks that he’s a tough little fellow, until he crosses an armadillo. The armadillo doesn’t mind the needling from the porcupine; he doesn’t think to fret or cry, but looks ahead and walks on by. He has an armored shell, you see, and so escapes all injury.Why-noceros?: and skin so thick it makes you sick, and what is with those toes? Without a family might he be adopted by another? There are kingdoms classes, orders, and even families, —yes, I know! But I haven’t yet seen anything resembling a rhino, with ears atop a long forehead and horns upon his nose, Why-noceros?Slide 15: Who knows? It might be nice to have a rhinoceros for a brother.See the rest of Spectacular Me: Poems Just for Kids : See the rest of Spectacular Me: Poems Just for Kids Available for just $3.00 on: Kindle, Nook, I-Pod, I-Pad, and other e-reading devices.
