Is Your Business Protected for Any Kind of Disaster We human have developed many technologies to combat the effect of natural disaster for eg: launched many satellites that transmit pictures of any part of the earth and its cloud system to inform about possible storm and hurricanes Installed radars to warn against cyclone within range. All these measures give the most comprehensive and reliable coverage information from remote areas and scientist can only predict partly about possible miss-happening and we have no control over them to avoid such disaster. At the best we can mitigate the effect it has on our business by deploying a disaster recovery plan. I want to raise a question to you: If any disaster either natural or manmade struck today is your business information and employees are safe Can your recovery plan mitigate the effects If not then this is a high time to give a serious thought over this. In a 2013 Ponemon Institute conduct a study on Disaster Recovery above 90 of responders responded that they experienced “unplanned downtime” in past two years. More shocking finding of this study was nearly 30 of enterprises that face grievous breakdown were never able to recover the lost data. That’s why it is important to give to have appropriate plan to prevent downtime from occurring and if in case downtime can’t be avoided then operations should be restored and recover crucial sensitive data.

slide 2:

Here are 2 strategies that every business should follow to prevent downtime and save their organization’s data. 1. Plan ahead: Business continuity make sure uttermost uptime even in the face of disaster. This is safest defense for IT downtime. This document identifies company’s critical IT systems. It finds out two things: a. Recovery time objective RTO: How long IT systems can be down before the business activity is impacted. b. Recovery point objective RPO: Level best passable period during which data might be lost due to downtime. The Ponemon Institute research also found that the estimated cost per minute of an unplanned downtime is nearly 7900. Very few of us can bear to lose such big amount of money. In 2013 Amazon’s web server went down the e-commerce leader lost nearly 66240 per minute of downtime. 2. Find the right disaster recovery solution. Dependable continuity plan also highlights broad array of recovery solutions. One should choose them according to their business needs and evaluating the pros and cons of each of them. According to me Disaster recovery service is the best option. It provides best solution for PC disaster recovery with both off line application based and online cloud based option to take a backup. Cloud-based disaster recovery is more flexible since it does not require a co- location.
