THIS MISSION TRIP : 

THIS MISSION TRIP We will be providing Malaria prevention small home improvements such as, screen doors and screen windows to keep the mosquitoes out of the villagers homes and we will be doing a HIV and Aids prevention workshop for the youth in the villages of Luweero, Uganda

WHAT IT MALARIA? : 

WHAT IT MALARIA? Malaria is a disease caused by a bite from a mosquito Which is an environmental problem Anopheles mosquitoes

MALARIA : 

MALARIA Number one killer in the world and 3- 5 million people die of the disease annually

The United Nations Reports : 

The United Nations Reports A “child somewhere in Africa who dies every 30 seconds, as a result of this preventable, controllable and curable disease.” MALARIA This equate to about 320 persons who die from Malaria each day (World Health Organization)

IN AFRICA : 

IN AFRICA Malaria is the highest recorded disease in the history of Africa People receive more than 1,500 infectious bites per year

IN KIWOKO HOSPITALLuweero, Uganda : 

IN KIWOKO HOSPITALLuweero, Uganda Approximately 30%-50% of outpatient care is from Malaria 15%-20% of patients hospital admissions is from Malaria 9%-14% of inpatient deaths is due to Malaria

IN UGANDA Millions of Ugandans are at risk : 

IN UGANDA Millions of Ugandans are at risk 10 percent of children and pregnant women are at the highest risk of malaria infection and mortality Over 90 percent of malaria deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa annually, majority being children under five.

THE CHILDREN : 

THE CHILDREN Are affected by not only the Malaria Virus but Now, over 6.7% of the population in Uganda has HIV/AIDS

Today, there are a million orphans (age 18 & below) due to HIV/AIDS no one to take care of these children that is affected by the Malaria virus

The Poor Children : 

The Poor Children Mothers to child transmission of AIDS registered 480,000 cases in 2007 alone This is alarming!!!

LAST YEAR 2009’ : 

LAST YEAR 2009’ There was over 91,000 newly identified cases of HIV in Uganda reported (July 16, 2009)

HIV & Aids RATES : 

HIV & Aids RATES 6.5 percent of women sampled at 20 antenatal clinics countrywide in Uganda have HIV The Ministry of Health reports an estimate of 1,050,555 people are living with HIV in Uganda today

SO WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP : 

SO WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP We can provide small home improvements such as, installing screen doors and screen windows to keep the mosquitoes out of their homes to help with Malaria Prevention

WE CAN : 

WE CAN Help educate the youth on HIV and Aids prevention strategies though a community workshop for the youth in the villages of Luweero, Uganda
