Overview Ajmer Sharif Dargah is located in Ajmer City and it is one of the most popular and holy pilgrimage sites in India for Muslims. People from all over India and abroad visit the Dargah as it is said to be the place where your prayers are answered. It was in Ajmer that Khawaja Muinuddin Chishti laid the permanent foundation of Islam in India in 1192 A.D. by his spiritual powers and peaceful preaching. Describing Ajmer in his “Picturesque India” (p.77) Mr. Caine , says:- “It is an ancient, beautiful city full of interest, both historical and architectural; its gay busy bazars and its old houses with carved fronts, some of which are among the finest in India, giving added attractions to its superb situation. A well built stone wall with give gateways surrounds the city.”

General Information :

General Information Ajmer is well connected by Air and railways both. The Sanganer Airport located in Jaipur is approximately 135 kilometres from Ajmer city. The Ajmer Junction railway station lies on the Mumbai - Ahmedabad - Jaipur - Delhi line. The station is well-connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur , Allahabad, Lucknow and Kolkata. The Dargah opens at 4.00 AM in the morning and closes at 9.00 PM in the night. The urs for Moinuddin Chishti is celebrated every year on the 6th and 7th of Rajab

Visitor Information Make sure that you are removing your shoes before entering the Dargah . You need to cover your body properly. Avoid wearing clothes that are revealing. Clicking pictures inside the mosque at some of the areas is allowed. Make sure that you take permission before clicking the pictures. Keep your phones on silent mode. Don’t throw garbage at the streets and try and keep the Dargah clean. Smoking is NOT allowed on the mosque grounds. Respect the culture and other people inside the Dargah .

Best Time to Visit :

Best Time to Visit The best time to visit Ajmer Dargah is either in the winter months from November to March when the temperature is really nice or more specifically during the annual Urs of Moinuddin Chisti in May or in November.
