Why I Created This Slideshow Backlash of video responses and comments showed a misunderstanding to what the intended message was for the Youtube viral video entitled “ Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus || Spoken Word” by Jefferson Bethke Viewers couldn’t put the pieces together Lack of intuition, logical/emotional intelligence, experience Lack of understanding of language, context or tone of Jefferson Took offense to detail(s) and lost sight of the overall message

Jefferson’s Video had no intentions to Argue different semantics, details, scripture on what one C hristian denomination is right or wrong over another Argue that one religion is right or wrong versus another (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism etc) Convert a non-believer, atheist that there is a God Argue science versus faith Argue the correctness of individual statements, the literal definitions of individual words or even title of his video

Purpose of Jefferson’s Video: 

Purpose of Jefferson’s Video Provoke thought to those who already believe in “conventional” christian based religion and it’s definitions. Provoke thought to those who maybe once believed in “conventional” christian based religion and it’s definitions and turned away because those definitions didn’t click in some way The CORE message that conventional Christian based religions preach doesn’t harmonize or resonate with the masses anymore. That instead, you need to look at the ACTIONS of the primary prophet if the Christian faith, Jesus, and EMPHASIZE THE HEART OF THOSE ACTIONS as the CORE MESSAGE to church goers.

The CORE Messages: Conventional Church vs Jefferson Conventional Christian Religion/Church emphasizes: Defining rules of right and wrong Defining the consequences of breaking rules Defining rules to get to Heaven Measures level of holiness – how much have you kept to the rules of right/wrong

Jefferson emphasizes one thing Focus/observe the ACTIONS of Jesus and letting this lead to personal transformation/enlightenment/peace/increased humanity What Does this Mean? An example. Jesus loves sinners and died for them (whores, drunkards, murderers, tax collectors, etc) – this action shows EXTREME LOVE, therefore focus on EXTREME LOVE as CORE MESSAGE Conventional church penalizes sinners (for drugs, premarital sex, abortion, etc) – this action shows that MAN OF GOD SHOULD JUDGE, therefore JUDGMENT AND PENALTY is the CORE MESSAGE to the audience

Why Jefferson Maybe Shares This Rap Conclusion I interpreted: Don’t let conventional ideas of church/religion turn you away from God. Focus on Jesus’ actions/heart to guide you towards a conclusion on His Word and not man(organized religion).
