Introducing NME-ICT project : Introducing NME-ICT project http://www.ignouonline.ac.in/sakshat For India to emerge as a knowledge super power of the world in the shortest possible time it is imperative to convert our demographic advantage into knowledge powerhouse by nurturing and honing our working population into knowledge or knowledge enabled working population. Cardinal philosophy of the mission : Cardinal philosophy of the mission There are three guiding philosophies for this effort – [a] no talent of the country should be allowed to go waste, [b] all the services available through the content delivery portal Sakshat should be free and [c] freely available material on the web should be used so as to avoid reinventing the wheel. NME-ICT – Key area of the project : NME-ICT – Key area of the project E-Content Research Infrastructure Network facility eContent generation cost : eContent generation cost Each Subject (UG) has 12 papers in an annual format equivalent to 12*2 = 24 Courses in a Semester System. The NPTEL standard of Rs. 7 lacs per semester course, for 1 Subject, 24*7 = Rs. 168 lacs would be required. For 80 Subjects, the requirement would be 80*1.68 crores = Rs. 134.40 crores. Research topics: infrastructure and network facility : Research topics: infrastructure and network facility 1. Development of low-cost access devices 2. Development of authoring tool for e-content 3. Development of new technologies for enhanced use of ICT in education 4. Developing Suitable Pedagogical Methods for Various Classes and intellectual calibers and research in e-learning 5. Development of Edutainment and gaming for knowledge enhancement 6. Development on-demand examination system 7. Development of tools for maximization of Bandwidth usage 8. Development of hardware technologies like routers and switches 9. Development of language converter tool kit Development and realization of Virtual Reality Laboratories and supporting facilities for e-learning National Testing Service – NTS: : National Testing Service – NTS: National Testing Service: to certify the competence and skills acquired by the individual through formal or non-formal means of education and/or training in different disciplines/professions.
