SOURCE OF ENERGY:

SOURCE OF ENERGY The energy stored in the train cannot be fully recovered by regenerative braking . We are going to tap that wasteful energy and convert it into electrical energy. Once rotating roller touches the static roller here rotational energy is transferred to the static roller. Then the static roller rotates. Construction of rails :

Construction of rails In Indian railway, there are two types of rails used. One is 52 Kg and 60 Kg rails. The 52 Kg rail has less web length than the 60 Kg rails. Location of the plant – Foul Mark At this point, all the train speeds are decreased to 30 Km - 35 Km, and the fuel supply is stopped. The minimum time to cross this point for each train is 3 minutes. The time taken between two trains to cross that foul mark is 5 minutes. Therefore, we choose this point for our plant. Principle of operation:

Principle of operation The train wheel (tip / clearance) touches the roller, it starts rotating according to the rotational energy transformation principle . Detailed operation On the inner side of the rails (web), we place a special constructed roller. Cont…. Initially, the train wheel (clearance) touches the roller, it starts rotating . Similarly, when the other wheels touch the roller, it rotates continuously. It gives approximately rotation of 3,000 rpm. the mechanical input is given to the dynamo through gear arrangement. Cont…. Some times the clearance may vary, at that time we can go for shaft with disc drive arrangement. That Disc drive has some reference stress value. When the stress increases, the shaft automatically bends, then the load comes to normal position, shaft regains its original position. 2/27/2014 14 Power generation using train wheels

FLY WHEEL:

FLY WHEEL To compensate the rest time, Flywheel is coupled in shaft. A flywheel does not maintain a constant speed; it simply reduces the fluctuation of speed. In machines where the operation is intermittent, the flywheel stores energy form the power source during the greater portion of the operating cycle and gives it up during a small period of the cycle. the energy from the power source to the machines is supplied practically at a constant rate. 2/27/2014 16 Power generation using train wheels

ADVANTAGES :

ADVANTAGES We do not need to make any holes on railway tracks, why in the sense there always holes on the track joints. By increasing the gear ratio, we can get high electrical output. At that time, we can go for generators.   . 2/27/2014 17 Power generation using train wheels

Cont…. Since we are going to charge the battery, so we do not worry about the continuous output. Heavy traffic cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, etc., This System can be easily adopted. APPLICATIONS :

APPLICATIONS We can generate electrical energy less than Rs. 2.50 / unit This electrical energy can be used as free power supply for railway users such as water supply, to charge their mobile phones, laptops etc. 2/27/2014 19 Power generation using train wheels

CONCLUSION:

CONCLUSION SINCE THE NEED OF THE ELECTRIC POWER IS IN GREAT DEMAND , WE AS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS SHOULD BE IN THIRST FOR NEW IDEA OF POWER GENERATION. AS ENERGY CAN never BE DESTROYED WE SHOULD TRANSFORM IT INTO THE FORM WE CAN USE. 2/27/2014 21 Power generation using train wheels
