He  held his breath till the bus pulled out from the station, and let out a deep sigh when it was gone. :

At any moment he had feared his mother or the Sheriff would come, pull him off, and make him stay. :

He told his mother he was leaving. Her hurt and anger hurt him too, but from her reigns, he had to get away. :

He knew it would be hard to be on his own at seventeen, but his three brothers had left home even younger than he. :

No friends, not going places, never being home late from school or work or face a belt, from this he had to be free. :

Loneliness and heartache cause so much grief and sorrow. Holding on too tightly to ones you love can also hurt and smother. :

Now on his way to Texas he hoped to find happiness and freedom. Somewhere in the city of Dallas, he had a brother. :

After a few days of being a bit hungry, he found his brother, and a job washing dishes at a café; both were good to find. :

Now with food to eat and rooming with his brother, it was now time to heal his own heart, soul and mind. :

Months later he got a job working in a print shop. He was happy and secure now, freely he could come or go. :

One morning he stopped off at his brother’s workplace, it was at a rehab Goodwill plant in Dallas; his brother had survived polio. :

There that morning, he met his soul mate. On their third date he asked if she would marry him. Surprised, she said yes. :

She had polio as a baby, limped a bit, but that mattered not to him nor their children later; love was the reason, I guess. :

There were many years of happiness between them, till death came one night. The courage of that first step changed his life. :

Possessiveness can kill your heart and destroy love. Was he searching for freedom, or love? He found both with his wife. :
