One day I received a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowerscontained in a lovely basket for my birthday. :

As I reached out and touched them my hands felt a surge of love as their fragrance drifted my way. :

The flowers were large and small, their colors were orange and yellow, mauve and white, and a few of them were blue. :

As I placed them upon a tablea few tears fell upon them, that made them sparkle as if kissed by morning dew. :

On the basket handle there were two silk butterflies, one an orange and black monarch, the other was purple and blue. :

Attached there also was a note from my daughterthat simply read, Mom, I love you! :

As days went by the flowers began to wither, the petals and leaves curled up and fell off; their fragrance left them too. :

I had tended them with love, but that, nor my teardropscould revive them, there was nothing more I could do. :

With sadness I took out the dead flowers one by one from the basket and I slowly threw them away. :

I kept the beautiful butterflies. The basket I filled with lovely silk flowers and memories to recall again someday. :
