Sentence pattern:

Subject:It denotes the person or thing about which something is said.It can be a noun,a pronoun,an infinitive,gerund,a noun phrase or clause. Verb: Transitive verbs have objects.. Examples : Write ,read Instransitive verbs donot have objects Example:Sleep,come Ditransitive verb:If the transitive verb have two objects they are called ditransitive verbs. Sentence pattern

Sentence pattern:

Object:The object that answers the question ‘what?’ is the DO(Direct Object). The object that answers the question ‘To Whom?’ is IO(Indirect Object) Example: He gave a pen to me DO IO Sentence pattern

Sentence pattern:

Complement : It completes the predicate of a sentence . It is an essential part . The subject complement describes or characterizes the subject . The object complement describes or characterizes the object. Adjunct :It gives additional meaning . It answers to the question How(manner),When(Time),Where(Place)etc.. Sentence pattern

I am a sportsman. Rose looks colourful. She was a dancer. They were tired. I am a Star. A.P.J.Abdul kalam was a president. Examples-SVC

We attend the prayer in time. Sheela decorated the painting beautifully. John met me in the evening. He tells truth always. He put his book in the bag. Examples-SVOA

Examples-SVIODO:

Mother gave me a cup of milk. Uncle gave my friend a Pair of Shoes. Meg presented her mother a Laptop. I teach You English. Cow gives us Milk. Father sent me Money. Examples-SVIODO

Practice exercise :

Guess the pattern of the sentences. Sitha sings . Saravana bought a car yesterday. Kamal watered the garden. She gave me a pen. They were surprised. The birds fly. He put his purse in the packet. Practice exercise

Recognise perfect and perfect continuous tenses. Fill in the appropriate tense form in the blanks. Use correct language for communication according to the tense forms. GOALS

Past perfect tense:

The past perfect tense expresses an action in the past that was completed before another action in the past. Example:They arrived at the bus station after the bus had left. As a past supposition which doesnot in fact occur. Example: If I had written the test I would have passed. Past perfect tense

Past perfect Tense:

Had+Past participle Example Had left. The bus had left. They arrived when the bus had left They arrived at the bus station after the bus had left. Past perfect Tense

Practice exercise:

When I went out again ,the rain_______(stop) The crowd_________(start) to leave even before the speaker began her speech. The Nurse __________(leave)by the time the doctor arrived. Past perfect continuous:

This tense is used to show that a certain action began beforea certain point in the past and continued upto the time. Example: The telephone had been ringing for five minutes before it was answered. Dhilip had been doing his homework for two hours when suddenly the lights went out. Past perfect continuous

Past perfect continuous:

Had+been+Verb+ing Example: Had been playing He had been playing After they had been playing for an hour After they had been playing for an hour They stopped to take some rest. Past perfect continuous

Practice Exercise:

Rani ___________(read) for five hours before he went to bed. Nirmala________________(wait)for two hours for her friend at railway station before her friend came to pick her up. Dimple________(suffer) from pneumonia for more than two months last year. She _______(work)from morning till night,naturally she was tired. Practice Exercise

Future perfect tense:

This tense refers to an action which will be completed before a point of time in the future. Example By the end of next month she will have lived in this village for twenty years. The new building will have been completed before the reopening of the school. Future perfect tense

Future perfect tense (format):

Shall/will have+Past participle Example Shall have gone Will have reached Will have lived She will have lived here for tweny years By the end of next month ,She will have lived in this village for twenty years. Future perfect tense (format)

Future perfect continuous tense:

The future perfect continuous tense is used to stress the duration of an action that takes place before another future event. When the action is continuous…….. Future perfect continuous tense

Future perfect continuous tense (format):

Shall/will have+been v+ing Example: Shall have been living I shall have been living I shall have been living in this house I shall have been living in this house for 14 years by next april. Future perfect continuous tense (format)
