How to Read : 

How to Read Read three times: Read for the thesis: What’s the big idea? Read for structure: Identify … … explanations of technical terms … major claims and examples … arguments and sub-arguments … objections … replies to objections Read for details (and criticism).

Reading Quizzes : 

Reading Quizzes Online. Access under “Assignments” link on Black Board: You will receive email announcements. The quizzes must be completed before class on the day the reading will first be discussed.

Exams Two midterms (20% ea.) and a final (40%). No makeups! Open notes – hardcopy only! Short answer questions testing your ability to apply course material.

Homework : 

Homework The syllabus contains a tentative schedule of homework assignments. The idea: Mini-essays(100-200 words), visible to the entire class, engaging with arguments and objections from classmates, instructor, or readings. Full credit given for a “good faith” effort.
