Palestinian-Israeli conflict :

Palestinian-Israeli conflict

Early stages :

Early stages The struggle between Israelis and Palestinians goes back to ancient times, when the ancient Israelites lived in and around Palestine and fought many wars with their neighbors. In a sense, the current conflict is an extension of those religious wars. But the modern conflict has its roots in modern times, specifically in the disintegration of a vast empire.

Slide 3:

The land called Palestine was occupied by the Ottoman Empire, a large group of territories ruled by an oppressive regime that found itself on the losing end of World War I. Great Britain had the most troops in Palestine when the war ended, and so Britain "won" the right to administer Palestine. Other territories became independent; Palestine did not. One of the many actions taken by the British government and army was the announcement and enforcement of the Balfour Declaration, which stated that the British people and soldiers supported the construction of a homeland for the Jewish people—in Palestine.

Slide 4:

Beginning in 1922, large numbers of Jewish people migrated to Palestine, pursuant to the Balfour Declaration. This migration continued for the rest of the decade and accelerated in the 1930s and 1940s. The people who called Palestine their homeland at this time didn't take too well to large numbers of new people moving in, especially since those "new neighbors" were Jewish and the majority of the people who were living in Palestine at the time were Muslim. In 1937, many Palestinians rebelled, calling for an independent nation, just like their neighbors were granted. Great Britain tried to find a way to satisfy both sides but gave up and, after the end of World War II, turned the problem over to the newly formed United Nations.

Slide 5:

UN Partition Plan in November 1947 was: Palestine to be partitioned into two states; one Jewish and one Arab, and Jerusalem to be .internationalised Then, in May 1948, The British abandon the mandate and a State of Israel was declared.

Present stages :

Present stages Both of the Palestinians and the Israelis are managing to live together, each with his own ideology, traditions, religion and authority. Not to forget, that even though there are two governments, the Israeli one dominate the Palestinian one in the major issues. Also some of the Palestinians are not allowed to go beyond the green line, where is the Israeli territory. That’s why there are a lot of check point all around!

Slide 7:

Moreover, there are a lot of restrictions on Palestinians dealing with the economy, the agriculture and so on. They are forbade from exercising their simple basic rights. Nowadays, the Israeli came up with the idea of the “Separation Wall”. Dividing the both territories by a huge war to prevent some from crossing the other side.

Slide 8:

Are Palestinian considered as human being?

Slide 9:

This conflict had been existed since ever and will obviously remain like this if the world did not take an action, if Arabs in general did not stand up and unite. Nothing can be done if people were locked in a place, discarded from their human rights. It is not terrorism to defend one’s self, it is not terrorism to protect one’s land, but it is terrorism to help taking one’s land, family and love.
