Slide 25:A Listening Ear
I have close relatives who came down with cancer, and I found that it's good for them to be informed. I have attended many health talks, and want to help them by lending a listening ear, and interacting with them and their family members. They need a support group to boost their morale.
Mrs Eunice Tan
Slide 26:I decided to become a CanFRiEND and bring a smile to someone's face. I hope to work with children, through speech and drama therapy, reading sessions and excursions – anything to distract them from their pain.
Ms Yogeswari Thiru
Slide 27:Having gone through cancer myself, I want to help newly-diagnosed patients. I have found that it is very useful to have people support you and answer your questions. Friends can comfort you, but they may not understand or know how to answer questions such as what chemotherapy is, or what food you should eat.
Mrs Florence Lim
breast cancer survivor
Slide 28:Having gone through and beaten the disease once, I know there is always a possibility of a relapse, but I learnt over the years to neither look back in anger nor look forward in fear.
Instead, I learn to look around in amazement as it's a beautiful world for us all to share and enjoy together.
Becoming a CanFRiEND has allowed my life to touch and be touched by others.
Janice Barber
breast cancer survivor
