Stage of Innovation: Idea: To design an Environmental Garbage Cleaning System in Urban and sub-urban areas Prototype : We are on process in developing a mobile garbage collector unit which acts according to the image processed by the camera unit deployed in utility poles (electric/lamp post). Idea Prototype Established Scaling

The Innovation:

The Innovation Chosen industry : Public Services Chosen technologies : Mobility, Analytics Objective: To free the country from garbage in order to make the country a clean place to live in. To protect the environment and the people from pandemics . Approach: In order to achieve this we can use Digital Image processing incorporated with an embedded system for low cost garbage collection and post garbage management. Description of the innovation developed: A low resolution camera is employed to detect a new trash in the vicinity of the camera and to trigger the mobile unit. When triggered, the mobile unit which is fitted with the vacuum collector collects the garbage and returns it to the respective trash can. An Embedded system is employed in order to split the garbage according to its kind as recyclable and non-recyclable.

Compelling need for the innovation:

Compelling need for the innovation For a developing country like India, unattended garbage due to the lack of eco-responsibility and awareness of the citizens, causes an indirect threat in the economy and outlook of the country. Even though our country is rich in its heritage and natural beauty, the piling up of roadside garbage destroys its iconic image amongst other nation, which affects tourism which in turn ruins the economy. Accumulation of the these trash leads to the breeding of parasites and insects , which leads to the transmission of contagious diseases resulting in pandemics. Although steps are taken to remove trash from the roadside environment in a daily routine, it is impossible to eradicate this issue as whole. Being employed in a developing country, this system should also be maintenance free. Therefore an automatic maintenance system should be deployed to overcome this concern.


Impact The major impact will be on the city improving its social dignity and integrity of the country. Human labors doing low esteemed sanitary works can be avoided. Total control over waste disposal avoiding impact over environment . Reduction of communicable disease spreading pathogens by clean streets. In the upcoming days, this system will make people aware the consequence of environmental degradation and will in turn alter the negligence of the common man.

Implementation: :

Implementation: The major problem for a developing country like ours is the lack of responsibility among the citizens, when it comes to making the country clean. The only solution is creating an indirect set right example (witticism) through our up growing technology. We cannot stop the citizens from throwing trash on the road side, but we can use our technology to solve this issue. Therefore using our “ENVIRONMENTAL GARBAGE CLEANING SYSTEM”, we can make a change not only to the nation but also the attitude of the citizens living around.

Implementation(Cont..): BLOCK DIAGRAM - 1(cont..) A low cost, low resolution camera is deployed between specified intervals placed on the streets. This camera is interfaced with an Image processing unit , which compares the pre-existing reference image and the present image for every 5 seconds. When a trash is dropped on the pavement or in its vicinity, the difference between the two images are sorted out and the mobile collection unit is alerted. The mobile unit also receives the image and details like the distance of the image from the detection unit. The mobile unit then moves towards the piece of garbage, sucks it using the vacuum tube and transfers it to the segregation unit(Garbage bin). In order to ensure right track and theft prevention, the mobile collection unit is attached to a mono rail system which holds it along the lifetime.

Implementation(Cont..): BLOCK DIAGRAM -2 (cont..) The segregation unit receives the trash from the mobile collection unit. The segregation units is deployed between an interval of 500m. It then separates the collected garbage according to its use. The various separated types of the garbage are magnetic , non-magnetic , recyclable, reusable and to be dumped. The magnetic objects are detected using ferrous test and the rest are separated. The remaining separated waste are subjected to optical test for detection of the degradable and non-degradable wastes. The segregated wastes are sent to the respective collection boxes.

The Competitive Advantage The current system that employs Human labors doing low esteemed sanitary works can be avoided through automation. This being self innovated with extended care can withstand threats caused by both humans and environment. We are on process for developing the prototype and pursuing for patent.
