The Innovation:

The Innovation Chosen industry : Public Services Chosen technology : Mobility Objective To make led lights to act in a dual way as a source of light and as a source of data To transfer any type of files stored in computer, mobile, laptop and the like using Li- Fi To use Li- Fi technology wherever radio communication is not admired To replace Wi-Fi ,Bluetooth and the like with Li- Fi

Description:

Description Li- Fi (or light fidelity ) uses visible light waves for communication. This is achieved by modulating the amplitude of the light source at a very high speeds (i.e. turning the light source on and off quickly). Only LED sources can be used because only LED’s can modulate their intensities at very high speeds. Very simply if LED is ON ,you transmit a digital ‘1’ ,if it’s OFF you transmit a ‘0’. The LED’s flicker ON and OFF to give different strings of 1s and 0s. The LED intensity is modulated so rapidly so that human eyes cannot notice so the output remains constant . We are using visible light ,the dual purpose of illumination and transfer of data.

Compelling need for the innovation:

Compelling need for the innovation In today’s world we are using technologies such as Wi-Fi,Bluetooth,etc . for data transfer and they require Radio waves . On the other hand , Li- Fi uses visible light waves which is free and eco-friendly as compared to radio waves because they are harmful to some extent. We can transfer files such as pdf,doc,text,images,videos,etc . with the help of Li- Fi . We can even chat with our friends . Chat using Li- Fi

Impact:

Impact  In future the data for laptops ,smart phones, tablets, PC , etc. will be transmitted with the light in the room. The street lights can also act as a source of data especially for internet connection . Applications This technology finds its applications where radio communication is not admired . Some of the places are: In aeroplanes passengers are not allowed to use RW(radio waves), can be given wireless internet access with the help of Li- Fi and overhead lights can be used for data transfer. In hospitals, light can be used to transfer X-ray images and other data wirelessly while autonomous surgical robots can also communicate with each other using lights since we cannot use RW as it will be harmful for patients. Deep sea exploration where the robots can communicate with each other and also for the divers can receive data with the help of lights because RW cannot propagate through water

Implementation:

Implementation Transmitter Section : We have to replace inefficient fluorescents lights with these new dignitaries of LED lights such as Led Lamp , Led Bulbs ,etc . Led Bulb Receiver Section : Photodetector circuit at the receiving end.

Challenges when implementing Li-Fi :

Challenges when implementing Li- Fi The only flipside to this type of communication is that there has to be a visible line of sight between the transmitter (LED’s) and the receiver (photo detector) for successful data transfer . We cannot use this in presence of sunlight ,you can transfer the data when you are inside a closed room.

The Competitive Advantage:

The Competitive Advantage The biggest advantage of Li- Fi is the requirement of very less components to modify normal LED’s for data transfer . Overcoming issues of Radio Wave in Li- Fi : 1. Capacity : 10000 times more bandwidth than RadioWaves . 2. Efficiency : Data through illumination and thus data transmission come for free. LED lights consume less energy. Highly efficient. 3. Security : Can’t be intercepted and misused. It can’t be hacked Sources of guidance – Internet ,Books We are not pursuing a patent for this innovation
