It accented the beat, had simple phrases, and had very youth oriented lyrics.Slide 3: The term “rock and roll” originated first in 1922 and was used as slang for intercourse. Then a DJ named Alan Freed, had a radio show in Cleveland called “Moon Dog Rock’n Roll Party.” He took it from the song “My Baby Rocks Me With a Steady Roll, the first usage towards this form of music.Timeline : Timeline 1954: Elvis records first album 1954: Ray Charles forms band 1959: Buddy Holly killed on February 3 “The Day the Music Died” 1964: The Beatles arrive in America known as the British Invasion 1968: Woodstock Music Festival1964: 1964 The Beatles arrive!!
