Slide 10:

Daedalus fashioned two pairs of wings out of wax and feathers for himself and his son Icarus so they could escape from exile in Crete. Before they took off Daedalus warned his talented son not to fly too close to the sun, nor too close to the sea. Overcome by the giddiness that flying lent him, Icarus soared through the sky but came too close to the sun, which melted the wax. So, Icarus fell into the sea. So…….. Maybe his father wanted him to crash – successor jealousy Maybe the talent didn’t listen to the wisdom – mentoring is key Maybe talent needs to be supported – people can’t fly (on their own) Email: Douglas Young
