Master Schedule Concerns:

Master Schedule Concerns Next year students will be committed to the courses they now select, so make sure you choose carefully . The reason your selections need to be final is because of class size. The master schedule is built to meet student requests. When students alter their class choices it has a drastic effect on the master schedule, and thus class size.

Class Selection Procedure:

Class Selection Procedure Class offerings are in the best interest of all Mira Costa Students Students will remain in a year long class, with NO level changes, until the end of the semester. At that time, if recommended, any student with a grade of “D” or “F” may request a program change.

Graduation Requirements:

Graduation Requirements English = 4 years Math = 2 (must include Algebra) Science = 2 years P.E. = 2 years Social Studies = 3 years Health = 1 semester Electives (95 credits - must include 1 year of Foreign Language or Art Total Credits 230 Passage of High School Exit Exam All Requirements must be completed to participate in graduation ceremony

State Physical Fitness Requirements:

State Physical Fitness Requirements Although graduation requirements for PE are met after completion of 20 PE credits, students who do not pass the Fitness Exam in 10th grade must take PE in 11th grade. Students who do not pass the Exam in the 11th grade must take PE in 12th grade. This is a state requirement.

Advanced Placement and Honors:

Advanced Placement and Honors Any student who wants to take an Honors or Advanced Placement course must meet the department prerequisites. Prerequisites are listed in the Course Description Handbook. If you do not meet a class prerequisite, you may submit a Waiver Form and possibly add that course if space permits. All students enrolling in an Honors or A.P. level course will be required to sign a Commitment Form.
