Slide 2:
There are a few obvious reasons why digital photography has pretty much replaced
film photography as the technique of choice for professional photographers, novices,
and all those in between.
The cameras have become very affordable, film is not required-so you can afford to
shoot away to your hearts content, and you can see your results immediately and
repeat those shots that you are not satisfied with.
But the best reason of all is that you can enhance your images after the fact. You can,
in the comfort of your home, compensate for poor technique and/or difficult ambient
conditions. But, more than that, you can become creative by utilizing the wonderful tools
avail able in software programs such as Photoshop Elements, or its big brother Photoshop.
Slide 3:
Using Photoshop Elements, techniques such as cropping, image resizing, exposure
control , and color control enable you to enhance your photos easily. If you are a
beginner, you can use the auto- correction features built into most of the tools.
If you are more advanced, more subtle control is available by bypassing the auto-
correct feature, and manually adjusting the various controls. Either way, the
results are immediate and satisfying.
As you may be aware, here at the JCC, Seniornet offers computer courses to those
over 50, covering a wide range of subjects. Digital Wonders is one such course.
Using Photoshop Elements 7.0 software, we introduce you to the basic techniques
of photo enhancement such as as cropping, image resizing, exposure control , and
color control. From there we move on to more advanced techniques.
Slide 4:
As a bonus, you learn to create slide shows, and how to e-mail them- as well as
individual photos- to your friends and family, and how to upload them to the
internet for viewing by all.
You don’t have to be an expert photographer to learn from this course.
The instructor brings with him several coaches, so that each student
gets individualized attention.
The next session of this course begins in January. All are
welcome.
