Conquering YOUR ¤¤GREATEST ENEMY¤¤

Slide 5:

Presented by d. Christopher Spears Music Score “Conquerer” Produced, Arranged, and Composed by Ryan R. Spears

Slide 6:

What or “who” is an Enemy?

Slide 7:

Webster's Dictionary puts the meaning of enemy like this: en•e•my – 1. One who seeks to harm another: a foe. 2. A hostile force or power. There are two types of enemies: 1. The External Enemy 2. The Internal Enemy

Slide 8:

External Enemies (commonly referred to as haters) 1. People You Work With 2. People You've Hurt in The Distant Past 3. People Who Don't Know You 4. People in Your Church 5. Your Family Members

Slide 9:

How Do I Face and Get Along with My External Enemies? By Facing and Conquering Your Internal Enemy

Slide 10:

Your Internal Enemy Is Your Greatest Enemy And Your Greatest Enemy Is YOU

Slide 11:

There are 7 things that contribute to your inability to conquer your Greatest Enemy

Slide 12:

YOU Sloth Lust Greed Pride Wrath Envy Gluttony

Slide 13:

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. Romans 7:24-26 (NIV)

Slide 14:

These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For their mouth empty boastful words and by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity – for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. 2 Peter 2:17-19

Slide 15:

But the Sinner Man isn't the only one that becomes a product of self-induced slavery. 2 Peter 2: 20-22 sheds light on the ways of the Christian Man. “If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: A dog returns to its vomit, and a sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud”.

Slide 16:

7 Ways to Defeat Your Greatest Enemy

Slide 17:

Step 1 Seek the Kingdom of God. Whatever you want in this life, you already have it. However, it can't be manifested because you are trying to obtain these things “without” God. Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you

Slide 18:

Step 2 Get Out of Your Own Way Don't let your slave masters or your own selfish ambitions deter you from following God's will for your life. Matthew 16:24 If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me

Slide 19:

Step 3 Resist Temptation in All Forms “Temptation is fulfilling a legitimate need in an illegitimate way” -Bishop T.D. Jakes Genesis 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it

Slide 20:

Step 4 Change Your Average The 5 people you communicate with the most is your average. If that group of people is not on the same page with you following Christ, you must change your average before they change you back to who you were. Jeremiah 2:37 You will also leave that place with your hands on your head, for the Lord has rejected those you trust; you will not be helped by them

Slide 21:

Step 5 Develop a Life of Prayer When we pray we receive assurance for God's divine guidance in all things we do. Praying is talking personally with God and He listens when we pray. James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Slide 22:

Step 6 Walk by Faith It is so easy to be shaken off course by our circumstances because of what we “see” rather than trusting and believing on His word. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

Slide 23:

Step 7 Defeating your Greatest Enemy is a daily battle. Your close walk with Christ depends on keeping your Greatest Enemy suppressed. The journey will not be easy. If at anytime you feel that all hell is coming against you and temptation rears its ugly head... Return to Step 1

Slide 24:

Seek the Kingdom of God
