Dr. Robert Brooks observes that charismatic adults play a pivotal role in facilitating resilience in children even when faced with harsh conditions in life.“Charismatic Adults”: “Charismatic Adults” Anyone who is involved with a child is potentially a “charismatic adult.” “Charismatic adults” can be parents, grandparents, teachers, counselors, therapists, coaches, ministers, priests, rabbis, extended family members, child care workers, social workers, youth advocates or any other interested adult.“Charismatic Adults”. . . .: “Charismatic Adults”. . . . have an unwavering faith in the child. They refuse to give up on a child. It takes an extra special person to work with troubled children, especially children who rage at us and don’t trust us because of the indignities and humiliations suffered by them.Sometimes . . . .: Sometimes . . . . just being there and refusing to give up is all we can do, but that is not to be minimized. It may be exactly what a particular child needs in order to risk closeness again.Sometimes . . . .: Sometimes . . . . the best we can do is to simply position ourselves to have an impact. Whether we do or not depends on many variables, some beyond our control, but we position ourselves for the opportunity and this too is not a trivial contribution.Occasionally . . . .: Occasionally . . . . we hear we made a difference and what a joy that brings to our hearts because sometimes these are very kids that at the time we believed we were unable to help. Most of the time . . .: Most of the time . . . we won’t know, we won’t hear, and we will be left to wonder: “Did I do any good for that child or a family?” Most of the time we will never know.Treasure the song in your heart, the beautiful melody within.: Treasure the song in your heart, the beautiful melody within. More than you can ever know “your song” can offer hope to children. Children need hope to keep going when their world seems to be falling apart. This is a song that exists only in your heart.: This is a song that exists only in your heart. No one can offer to children what you can. We each have our own unique gifts, wisdom, shaping influences, and even our particular difficulties and struggles that come together in a way that no one else can replicate. May the song that bears your unique signature be heard far and wide. : May the song that bears your unique signature be heard far and wide. “Charismatic adults” are needed today as never before because the world for our youth is far more complex and confusing than it was for previous generations.A melody so sweet that even the Lark ceases its rich call and gorgeous exaltations in order to hear your song.: A melody so sweet that even the Lark ceases its rich call and gorgeous exaltations in order to hear your song. How sweet and lovely is the song that resides within your heart grounded in your love for children, a wish to guide, to teach, to share, to give, to listen, to learn, or to simply be with a child.Let Your Voices be Heard: Let Your Voices be Heard We may think that children, particularly older children and adolescents don’t want to hear or listen to “our song.” But this is only true if we don’t stop to hear and listen to them. Children will respect what we are willing to share with them if they feel respected by us. “Charismatic adults” know this.Give voice to the song that emanates from the depths of your heart.: Give voice to the song that emanates from the depths of your heart. As written in the Little Prince : “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” What is most valuable to share with children originates in the wisdom of our heart. The song that the Lark and no one else has ever fully heard before, perhaps not even you.: The song that the Lark and no one else has ever fully heard before, perhaps not even you. “Charismatic adults” can be pivotal in turning the life of a child around. What you give, the beauty of the “song in your heart” is a gift to be cherished and maybe, just maybe will make a lasting difference in the life of a child. There simply is no greater privilege!Slide 17: Allelulia (Hallelujah)[Performed, Arranged and produced by micheal CASTALDO] From the Vital Records (VR2020) CD 'Aceto' (p) Copyright 2010 - All Rights Reserved - Majestic Castle Music, NYC Available on iTunes, Amazon.com & www.michealCASTALDO.com You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
