Multiply up to 10x10 :

Multiply up to 10x10 It is important to remember that multiplication is just repeated addition So, using this hint you would know that 3x4 is the same thing as 4+4+4

Multiply :

Multiply You can think of the multiplication sign as being “Groups of”. So 3x4 could be told to a student as 3”groups of”4.

Multiply :

Multiply Now you need to switch the numbers around. Now we have 4x3 and that could be read as 4 “groups of” 3

Reminder! :

Reminder! Its important to remember that even though you get the same answer the order the problem is written means different things.

Multiplication Rectangles :

Multiplication Rectangles You can also use Multiplication rectangles to solve problems. These rectangles come in different sizes and each sized represents a different number. A 4x3 rectangle would look like…

Inverse :

Inverse 3 x 8 = Because this is true we can use the Inverse function to find out the division side of the problem. 24

Inverse :

Inverse 24 / 8 = This would also work for switching the two smaller numbers around. 24 / 3 = 3 3

Inverse :

Inverse Solve: 9 x 5 = Check your answer using the Inverse: 45 / 9 = or 45 / 5 = 45 3 9

Fill in the Blanks :

Fill in the Blanks 6 x 4 = 24 8 x 5 = 40 9 x 9 = 81 Remember!!! you can use the Inverse to find the missing number.

Fill in the Blanks :

Fill in the Blanks 8 / 4 = 2 60 / 6 = 10 42 / 7 = 6 The Inverse also works from getting from division to multiplication.

Mental Calculation :

Mental Calculation It is a goal for you to be able to multiply three digit numbers (multiples of ten) by other single digit numbers.

Multiply :

Multiply Solve these mentally!! 300 x 4 = 1200 120 x 7 = 720 500 x 6 = 3000

Helpful Hint :

Helpful Hint If there are zeros on the ends of your numbers just take them off and multiply the rest of your numbers. Just remember to add the zeros to your answer at the end.

Hints :

Hints Lets say you have 150 x 7 Instead of doing that, take the zero off the end and just multiply 15 x 5 to make it easier. 15 x 5 = 75 , then add your zero back in, 150 x 5 = 750

Remainders :

Remainders When you do a division problem and a number does not divide evenly you have remainders. 12 / 5 = 2R2 R= Remainder

Remainders :

Remainders There are many story problems that have this in the answer. Solve: If you have 33 kids in groups of 5 how many groups are there? 33 / 5 = 6R3
