The Chicago Flag Adrian Durkin Park School 5/21/2009 Grade 3

Colors Of The Flag : 

Colors Of The Flag The colors of the flag are red, white, and blue.

Meaning of the white stripe : 

Meaning of the white stripe There are 3 white stripes. They are arranged from top to bottom. They are the North, West, and South sides of the city.

Meaning of the blue stripes : 

Meaning of the blue stripes There are 2 blue stripes going across The top blue stripes stands for Lake Michigan and the north branch of the Chicago River The bottom blue stripe stands for the south branch of the Chicago River and the Great Canal.

The four red stars : 

The four red stars The first red stars is for Fort Dearborn. It was built to protect Chicago in 1803.

Slide 7: 

The second red star is for the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The fire burned for 2 days.

Slide 8: 

The third star stand for the Columbian Exposition of 1893. It was called the Chicago World’s Fair.

Slide 9: 

The fourth star stands for the Century of Progress in 1933. It showed off Chicago’s 100 year history.

Why I like Chicago? : 

Why I like Chicago? Chicago is a fun place to live. There are many places to visit and many things to do. My favorite place is Navy Pier.
