Some statistics LIFELONG LEARNING AND STUDENT MOBILITY In 2010, 93% of children aged 4 or above were enrolled in kindergartens . By 2020 the share should be at least 95%. In 2010, 16% of adults participated in lifelong learning . ET 2020’s objective is 15 %. Slovenia has already surpassed this objective . A Slovene 6-year old can expect to spend 18.5 years in the educational system , which is more than the EU-27 average (17.2 years ).

QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING In 2009, 21% of 15-year olds achieved low scores in reading literacy . By 2020 this share should be lower than 15%. In 2010, nearly 90% of young people attained upper secondary education . This places Slovenia in the 4th place among the EU-27 Member States. In the 2009/10 academic year a half of young Slovenes participated in tertiary education ; this places Slovenia in the 1st place among EU-27 Member States . In Slovenia almost a third of people aged 30-34 attained tertiary education . By 2020, this share should be above 40%.

EQUITY AND SOCIAL COHESION IN EDUCATION Among basic school pupils , there are 7% of children with special educational needs; a pproximately 5% of these are integrated into the mainstream basic school (from 2004 on , when the process of integration began , the share of children with special needs education attending mainstream basic school has doubled ). Among young people, the share of y early school leavers is not high ( it was 5 % in 2010). The objective of the Europe 2020 strategy and the ET 2020 is 10 %. The national goal is 5 %.
