Slide 3:

Water became an issue when Hurricane Mitch struck badly in 1998. After Mitch, three days of rain caused landslides, and floods. Since then, they have had to spend up to six hours a day to collect contaminated water. Important Statistical Information:

Important Statistical Information Honduras’ population is 7,483,763 people. The median age is 19.7 years. Their access to clean water is 87%. Their access to good sanitation is 69%. The amount of people below poverty is 53%,and adult literacy is 80%. http://www.mapsofworld.com/images/world-countries-flags/honduras-flag.gif

Problems Specific to the Country:

Problems Specific to the Country Sixty-three percent of Honduras’ population is very poor. Some of the people live on less than a dollar a day. Because of that, families have to grow their own crops to feed just their own family, and at the same time, they have to walk to bodies of water to collect dirty water full of diseases. This water can cause sicknesses and deaths. http://www.toner-inkjet.com/images/clipart-$$cash.jpg

Recommendations:

Recommendations Things We Can Do We can donate money and supplies to help purify Honduras’ water. If the water was purified, then less people would be sick. We could outsource jobs so that people could earn a living, and have more money. Things They Can Do They can try to start businesses so that people can get more money to spend on their everyday life. If they did that then eventually they would have water purification systems http://www.toner-inkjet.com/images/clipart-$$cash.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5988/schoolsuppliesyg0.jpg
