How to make a Christingle

You will need: :

You will need: An orange, red ribbon, silver foil, a candle, four cocktail sticks and raisins or sweets.

1. Fasten a piece of red sticky tape or ribbon around the middle of the orange. :

1. Fasten a piece of red sticky tape or ribbon around the middle of the orange. The orange stands for the world. The red ribbon represents Jesus’ blood when he died on the cross.

2. Cut a small cross in the top of each orange. Place it on a tray to catch the juice and lay a square of silver foil (75mm/3in square) over the cross. The foil will help prevent hot wax running onto your hand.

3. Place a candle on top and wedge it firmly into the orange. :

4. Load four cocktail sticks with raisins and insert them into the orange around the candle. The four sticks represent the four seasons of the year. The sweets and raisins remind us of God’s goodness, feeding us throughout the year.

5. Carefully light the candle and enjoy holding your Christingle while you sing Christmas carols. :
