Joe McCoy sang and wrote this song which is called “ When the Levee Breaks ” In 1929 about the great Mississippi flood of 1926/7. The flood began with heavy rains. On Christmas Day of 1926, the Cumberland River at Nashville topped levees at 56.2 feet (17 m), a level that remains a record to this day.
