A GREAT POINT GUARD IS………… Slide 2: TOUGH MENTALLY TOUGH: YOU never give up when down and never believe the game is OVER. PHYSICALLY TOUGH: YOU can take a beating and still get the ball up to the basket and YOU can be double or triple teamed and still get the ball to an open teammate. YOU CAN NOT complain, regardless of the circumstance YOU find yourself and your team in. YOU MUST be in complete control of your abilities and your emotions as well as in control of your teammates. A GOOD TEAMMATE : A GOOD TEAMMATE YOU must put your team’s success and your teammate’s individual success before your OWN. YOU must be there for your teammates YOU must constantly give of yourself for the betterment of the team in order to obtain team gains. SMART : SMART YOU must know where everyone on the team should be on every play and where YOUR teammates should be on every defensive play. YOU should be able to play every position on the floor. YOU must anticipate, correctly, what YOUR teammates will do next. YOU ARE A psychology guru: YOU understand and accept YOUR teammates’ actions and help them change when necessary. A LEADER : A LEADER YOU must lead by example: YOU are early to practice and games YOU are eager to get started each and every day. YOU stay late to help a teammate with his game YOU are objective about yourself and constantly look for ways to make YOUR game stronger YOU are the most positive player on the TEAM! STRONG : STRONG YOU value physical strength YOU are as excited in the weight room as YOU are on the court YOU may not be the strongest person on the team but YOUR work ethic toward that goal cannot be DISPUTED!
