Using Twitter For Business:

Using Twitter For Business By Cherie Ang

Twitter A communication platform that helps businesses stay connected to their customers. As a business, you can use it to quickly share information with people interested in your company, gather real-time market intelligence and feedback, and build relationships with customers, partners and other people who care about your company. As an individual user, you can use Twitter to tell a company (or anyone else) that you've had a great—or disappointing—experience with their business, offer product ideas, and learn about great offers.

Online Community:

Online Community Twitter can be a very effective way for a business to build an online community that enhances and expands its other marketing efforts. Since Twitter provides the opportunity for a conversation, the company’s customers could offer great feedback that has been used to improve the company, developing fierce customer loyalty at the same time.

Listening & Contribution:

Listening & Contribution Listening (or monitoring online Twitter conversations)—especially the tweets of people you know to be knowledgeable or successful in the use of social media—is a great way to learn. It’s also a great way to look for an opportunity to jump into a conversation where you can actually make a contribution.

How Does Twitter Work?:

How Does Twitter Work? Twitter users--often called Tweeple (or worse)--have 140 characters to answer the question, “What are you doing?” If you join Twitter you can “follow” other tweeple , which causes their updates to appear on your home page. In turn, they can follow you, a form of permission-based marketing. You can also direct message them, but always in 140 characters or less.

Twitter as a tool:

Twitter as a tool The theme running through all of these uses of Twitter is that the most successful are those who understand that Twitter is a tool, not a platform, and its most effective use is when it is used thoughtfully and generously to genuinely connect with customers and help them meet their needs.
