easy to learn, easy to use, and… free! Visit www.audacity.sourceforge.net to download for Mac or PC Install the software, following on-screen instructions Open Audacity! note: Beta Version 1.3.12 is used in this presentation. Instructions for older versions may vary slightly.

easily import sound files… Click File, Import, Audio Select audio file, click open

listen to your audio… Click green arrow to play Use space bar to stop/start track Place cursor anywhere in track to start there

Select sections of audio by click and drag Use copy and paste to move selection Close or mute any unwanted tracks mix your tracks together… CLOSE MUTE

delete or generate silence… Select area to delete, press “delete” key Move cursor to where silence is desired Click Generate, Silence Enter amount of silence in seconds Use toolbar buttons to delete within or outside of selection

rearrange tracks… Click name of a track you wish to move, select “Move Track Up” or “Move Track Down” Track names can be changed by selecting Name… in same drop down menu on track

adjust volume… Select audio you wish to change Click Effect, Amplify Increase or decrease amplification using slider If you go too far, “OK” button will not be clickable

export your file as .mp3… : 

export your file as .mp3… Select all audio tracks you wish to mix into one mp3 by click and drag Click File, Export Selection Name the file and select file type Click OK to allow multiple tracks to be mixed
