The colours symbolize India's vibrant and diverse culture and people, and each part of the logo symbolizes India welcoming the 71 Commonwealth nations and territories. Slide 12: Preparation The total budget estimated for hosting the 19th Commonwealth is US$ 1.6 billion. This makes the 2010 Commonwealth Games as the most expensive Commonwealth Games ever (compared to Manchester 2002 - approx. US$ 420 million, and Melbourne 2006 - approx. US$ 1.1 billion). Slide 13: Infrastructure, Transport, Energy consumption Slide 14: Games Village A new, modern Games Village is being built by the private company Emaar-MGF along the east bank of the Yamuna River at a cost of USD 230.7 million. The Games Village will be spread over an area of 63.5 hectare (158.4 acre) and is situated near renowned monument and landmark the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple. The Delhi Games Village will be a low rise medium development with a possible capacity for 8,500 athletes and officials. . Slide 15: Security In preparation for the Games and to promote security at major tourist destinations, Indian states will be deploying a force of "tourist police“. These tourism police are regular state police forces, but will be trained to handle tourist-related aspects. OPENING CEREMONY : OPENING CEREMONY The opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010, which kick started the twelve days sport extravaganza will continue till 14th of October in New Delhi. Both the Indians as well as the foreigners were simply moved by the richness and prosperity of the Indian culture that was all put together to perfection on 3rd October, 2010 Slide 17: . Almost 65,000 people gathered to watch out the mesmerizing show put up by India at the CWG 2010 opening ceremony. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi roared with the rapturous applauds of the numerous visitors. i : i The Prince of Wales i.e. Prince Charles and his wife and Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla were present at the opening ceremony of CWG, 2010, who were acquainted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Man’s hockey 1st time won medal CLOSING CEREMONY : CLOSING CEREMONY 11 days of non stop action on the sports field has sadly came to an end and today 14 October 2010 saw Delhi bidding to its beloved guests who entered as friends and will leave as a family closing ceremony of the xix common wealth games 2010 Delhi kicked off at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium Slide 33: As the closing ceremony was almost to focus on indian modern day traditional It was only fitting that bands from the armed forces get the opportunity to display their skills a total of 650 musicians from the Indian Navy The Air force and Navy performed military marital music and beautifully synchronized information marching provd to be a major hit with the rendition of “SARE JAHAN SE ACCHA” giving everyone. Slide 34: Delhi promised to deliver world class Games and Delhi delivered, there was nothing better to showcase the success of the XIX Commonwealth Games than a grand Closing Ceremony. A dazzling laser show and a musical extravaganza marked the finale of the Games, the biggest sporting event hosted by India which crowned itself with sporting glory by winning an unprecedented 101 medals. *Delhi meri jan was played after which show finally began with the Emence welcoming Mr. Michal Fennel president of common wealth Games federation.
