Knowing Guinea pig breeders and cage Liners There are 13 different breeds and each breed has its own modifications in appearance. Some breeds are excellent for family animals and some are better for contests. Generally these are display pigs. Guinea pig breeds differ in reputation. The three top breeds are the Brief Locks Abyssinian and Peruvian. A 4th extensive range the Sheltie Breed or Silkie breed is another well-known choice. The Brief Haired pig is the breed that you likely think of when you think of guinea pigs. They have short sleek hair and extensive snouts. They are also known as English guinea pigs and American guinea pigs. The Silkie is like the Peruvian breed. The big distinction is the way the hair moves. Peruvians have lengthy streaming hair that includes all of them such as their experience. The Silkies locks are lengthy and streaming too but it does not drop over their encounters. The Abyssinian is one of the most typical Guinea pig breeders. This breed has rosettes or whorls of fur. As a result their coat feels rough. The Peruvian has very long hair-it can be up to 20 inches long. They have a tendency to their own fur by chewing on it to keep it at a length that is relaxed for them. Guinea pigs are arranged into 3 separate overall categories. There is short-haired long- haired and rosette. Each of these categories is further split into shade modifications. Self’s or single-colour guinea pigs come in colours varying from white cream golden red chocolate and black. There are Marked versions and these have at least two shades. An example is a tortoiseshell with dark and red marks. Other extensive Guinea pig breeders are the Dutch which is black and white in a saddle pattern on its back and a white forehead. Aside from the length and growth pattern and colour of the fur there are also variations in the breed of fur that guinea pigs have. The short-haired English and American breeds have a smooth coat of very short hair. Having a guinea pig can be a lot of fun.
