This is the true story of how Rwanda came to genocide. I am a Rwandan who did this video in the hope that the truth will one day be said about "1994". Slide 4: German East Africa/Deutsch-Ostafrika 1889: Rwanda is colonized by Germany . 1916: Germany looses WWI, and as a result looses its colonies. Slide 5: 1916: Rwanda becomes a Belgian colony. Slide 6: 1959: Revolution against King Kigeri V end of absolute monarchy in Rwanda . Kayibanda become first president of Rwanda Slide 7: 1961: UN supervises referendum, abolishes monarchy in Rwanda. 1962: declaration of independence from Belgium. Rwanda becomes a republic. Slide 8: October 1990: Tutsi rebels break from Uganda’s NRA army ,and attack Rwanda as the Rwandan Patriotic Front. ARUSHA : ARUSHA 3 August 1993: Arusha Peace Agreement between rebels and government. Pres. Kibeho Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp : Kibeho Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp About 80,000 lived in these camp Slide 15: The 22nd April 1995 ,the Rwandan Patriotic Front Massacres the people in the Kibeho Refugee Camp. Slide 16: Kibeho displacement camp after Rwandan Patriotic Front raid. Slide 17: The U.N soldiers were there, but did nothing as the men of General Kagame massacred innocent civilians General Karenzi : General Karenzi He was appointed by Paul Kagame to massacre the refugees in Kibeho. He is now a top commander in the African Peace Keeping Force in Darfur, Sudan President Paul Kagame : President Paul Kagame Paul Kagame (the leader of the Rwandan Patriotic Front) claims to have saved Rwanda in 1994 by defeating the Interahamwe militias but he is as bad as them . Slide 20: In 1996, the new Rwandan leadership headed by the Rwandan Patriotic Front claimed that Interahamwe who committed genocide where in eastern Congo (Zaire) The People Being Accused : The People Being Accused A refugee running from the killings in Rwanda. Slide 24: These innocent people do not know their country is preparing to exterminate them. Slide 25: 1996: Rwanda goes to war against The Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) Slide 26: The Rwandan Patriotic Front killed an estimated two million refugees. Rwanda’s Justice System : Rwanda’s Justice System U.N : U.N The United Nations has articles stating the crimes committed by the Rwandan Patriotic Front in Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo from October1990 to this day.
