Meeting Dedication :Meeting Dedication JUNETEENTH June 19th 1865


Juneteenth :Juneteenth The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order by US President Abraham Lincoln issued during the Civil War It declared the freedom of all slaves in the territory of the Confederate States of America. It was issued in September 1862 and became effective on January 1, 1863


Juneteenth :Juneteenth It had little immediate effect on most slaves’ day-to-day lives, particularly in Texas, which was almost entirely under Confederate control. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger and 2,000 federal troops arrived on Galveston Island to take possession of the state and enforce slaves’ new freedoms. Juneteenth is a blend of the words June and Nineteenth and is meant to commemorate that historic event on that historic day, which happens to be TOMORROW!

LHS 1st Annual Industry Day :LHS 1st Annual Industry Day May 27, 2008 at Lincoln High School. Chance to bring engineering concepts into the classroom. Opportunity for engineers to showcase their profession in the classroom. NSBE members instrumental in facilitating 2 buoyancy lab sessions.


LHS Senior Day Exhibition :LHS Senior Day Exhibition June 5, 2008 at Lincoln High School. Opportunity for graduating seniors to present their projects as a requirement for graduation. NSBE member participation in the evaluation panel.


17th Annual Golden Pyramid Awards :17th Annual Golden Pyramid Awards June 7, 2008 at Balboa Park, San Diego. Academic excellence award. NSBE table with members talking to parents and children about NSBE and the NSBE PCI program.

Events YOU want to make happen :Events YOU want to make happen Tutoring event at Bayview Baptist Church every Saturday from 10:30am - 1pm. Kearny Mesa Digital Academy. Students give presentation on digital video projects and then feedback provided towards grades. Suggestion for Awareness Dinner to be done at Bayview Baptist Church. Collaboration with other organizations on workshops.  MLK Parade. Welcome back barbecue. Golden Pyramid Awards. Social mixer. Social event just for the members eg. going to a Padre game. Collaborate with the Urban League to participate in the golf tournament.

Forecast :Forecast Southern Camping Conference The 2008 Region 6 Southern Camping Conference will be held at Cal Poly-Pomona Dates: Fri, July 25-27 We are currently working out a deal for corporate sponsorship to allow students to go. We will need SDAE members to act as chaperone/mentors for the students we bring.
