Meeting Dedication Norma Merrick Sklarek( b. 1933 ) Architect Born April 15, 1928 in Harlem, New York. Graduate from Columbia University School of Architecture in 1950 She is the 1st Black woman to become a licensed architect in the states of New York (1954) and California (1962) She is the 1st Black Woman to become a licensed architect in the UNITED STATES!

Norma Merrick Sklarek : 

Norma Merrick Sklarek She worked for prestigious firms Skidmore, Owens & Merrill In NY, and for Gruen and Assoc. in LA – where she became the 1st woman director of architecture In 1966 she became the 1st woman to be honored with a fellowship from the American institute of Architects In 1985 she helped form the firm of Siegel-Sklarek-Diamond: the largest woman-owned architectural firm in the US. Some of her projects included the San Bernardino City Hall, The US. Embassy in Tokyo, and Terminal One at LAX

Past Events 2009 San Diego Science Festival March 1 – April 4, 2009 Science month (March), Discovery week (Mar 30 – Apr 9) Expo weekend (Apr 4): Balboa Park THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!! We Received Nothing but praise for our booth! Highlight: Lincoln High Lacrosse Team Joined us! The news reported over 50,000 people (a bit more than the first-year goal of 15,000) in attendance There was a five mile line of cars trying to exit off the Freeway to come to the event 44+
