I Am A Mom :

I Am A Mom My son, AJ, is 20 years old and will be a Junior at Missouri State University. He is also very much into music. Although he is not majoring in music, he plays the saxophone in the bands at school. He is pursuing a degree in education. And if you haven't figured it out yet, he is my pride and joy! Return

I Am An Aunt :

I Am An Aunt I have 5 nephews and nieces from my brother and sister. My son is the oldest cousin. The rest are 16, 13, 10, 8, and 3. Plus I have a ton of step-nephews and nieces! The picture is our “stair step picture” that we take every Thanksgiving! Return

I AM A Daughter :

I AM A Daughter I grew up in Waterloo, IA after moving there when I was 4. We moved toDecatur, IL my junior year in high school. Eventually, I ended up in Collinsville, Illinois which is just over the river from St. Louis. (I can see the St. Louis Arch from my school.) The picture on this page is of my mom and stepdad while they were on “the big trip” which consisted of 41 days spent in Australia and then cruising to Hawaii! Return

I Am A Teacher :

I Am A Teacher After receiving my Bachelor's degree in 1985, I moved to Mexico for a year and taught 3rd grade in the American School of Puebla. (Yes, I mean Mexico not New Mexico!) It was an incredible experience! After returning to the States, I landed here in the St. Louis area in 1986 and spent a few years substituting. Eventually, I was hired full-time in my present school district. I taught K-6 music for 6 years and then moved to my present position in the middle school. I teach Music Appreciation as an exploratory class for the 7th grade and then I have the Choir program for my school. Some people think I'm nuts, but I LOVE this age and I love my job! Return

Let Me Count the Ways :

Let Me Count the Ways The Multimedia that I use in my classroom is interactive in a variety of ways: We use the Smart Board on a daily basis. I have created PowerPoints to interact with my lectures. These include images as well as information. I show video clips to emphasize specific points within the lesson. I take my students on virtual tours through the Internet. My students use the computer to take quizes after practicing certain skills on a website. The practice takes place both as a class using the Smart Board as well as individually at home and school. I have created a website for my choir where I have posted recordings of their parts. They download these onto their computer, iPods, MP3 Players, or onto a CD. They are then required to use it to practice their parts individually. Return

My Class Infused :

My Class Infused Multimedia: Smart Board Internet Video Audio Digital Recordings PBL: Students in my class have two main projects that they create. They are both “role-playing” situations where they use the internet, interviews if possible, images, video, and audio to create a collaborative presentation. Return

My Skills :

My Skills Strengths At this point my technical skills are probably my strengths. I am very familiar with most aspects of PowerPoint and can turn it into a movie with audio. Weaknesses My weakest areas are in the visualization, planning, organization, and assessing a PBL. These are the areas that I hope to strengthen with the help of this class. Return
