Parts of a Spanish Verb : 

Parts of a Spanish Verb The infinitive: Basic, unconjugated form English “to do” (something). ALWAYS ends in r 1

2 The ending: Last two letters of the infinitive. ALWAYS two letters. (-ar, -er, -ir) 3 Stem / root: “Leftovers” after removing ending from infinitive. The infinitive verb minus the ending equals the stem: Infinitive – Ending = stem

Endings: -ar verbs, singular forms : 

Yo: Add -o. (hablar) hablo Endings: -ar verbs, singular forms Tú: Add -as. Él, ella, Ud: Add -a. hablas habla

Endings: –ar verbs, plural forms : 

Nosotros: Add -amos. hablamos Endings: –ar verbs, plural forms Ellos, Ellas, Uds: Add -an. hablan

Endings: –ir verbs, plural forms : 

Nosotros: Add -imos. (vivir) vivimos Endings: –ir verbs, plural forms Ellos, Ellas, Uds: Add -en. (vivir) viven -ir verbs are conjugated just like -er verbs-- except for the nosotros/as forms.
