After loosening the guidelines a few years ago – the government is now pulling them back In the height of Canadian lending (around 2007) Maximum Amortization: 40 years Maximum Refinance: 95% of the property value Today Maximum Amortization: 30 years Maximum Refinance: 85% of the property value
