Premium member Presentation Transcript Slide 1: James and Jimmy's Guide to Laptop Expectations Inspired by Desmond Devlin's comic Melvin and Jenkins Meet our students : Meet our students James Jimmy Picking up the laptops : Picking up the laptops James waits quietly in line for his computer. Limit the number of students at the cart at one time. Students will use their assigned number. Picking up the laptops : Picking up the laptops James rushes to the cart so he doesn't get the laptop with the missing “L” key. Carrying the laptops : Carrying the laptops James carries the laptop like a lunch tray. Only carry one laptop at a time. Walk while carrying the laptop. Jimmy carries his laptop without care. Cleanliness : Cleanliness Jimmy licks his hands to clean them. James has clean and dry hands that don't touch the screen. Point with the mouse. Keep a clean work area : Keep a clean work area James makes sure to clear his desk of papers and water bottles. Keep a clean work area : Keep a clean work area Jimmy makes a pyramid with all of his books and papers. Shark Attack : Shark Attack James immediately follows the teacher’s directions. Lids at 45 degrees 2 scoots Hands-off Lids at an Angle : Lids at an Angle James keeps his computer at an L angle so he can concentrate on his work. Lids will be at an approximate L (angle). Lids at an Angle : Lids at an Angle Jimmy bends his monitor so he can see his reflection. Inappropriate Sites : Inappropriate Sites James immediately closes his screen and looks to the teacher for directions. Shark attack/Shut the trunk – lids at 45 degrees/ 2 scoots and hands-off. Inappropriate Sites : Inappropriate Sites Jimmy does not tell the teacher. Asking for help : Asking for help James asks a friend before he asks the teachers. If needing assistance, ask 3 friends before the teacher (3 Before Me). Neighbor check before putting away – don’t close the lid until the lights are all off – making sure to power down the laptops. Asking for help : Asking for help Jimmy raises his hand and wants help from the teacher immediately. Returning the laptops to the cart : Returning the laptops to the cart James returns his laptop to its numbered spot. Returning the laptops to the cart : Returning the laptops to the cart Jimmy puts his laptop wherever there is room. Don’t Forget!!! : Don’t Forget!!! Power on only with permission. Don’t use another person’s computer. When you’re done, make sure the computer is plugged back in properly. Don’t move the laptop cart. Print with permission only. Be patient!
