What is a Nutrient? : 

Nutrients- are substances found in food that Help Your body Grow and Develop. Nutrients nourish your body and give you energy. What is a Nutrient?

How Does Your Body Use Nutrients? : 

How Does Your Body Use Nutrients? Nutrients provide the body with the materials it needs to grow, repair itself, energy to do work and to keep body functions regulated.

Proteins : 

Proteins A compound made of small sections called amino acids. The body uses proteins to build and repair muscles, tissues and organs, and create substances that regulate body functions such as enzymes. AMINO ACIDS- The building blocks of protein.

Vitamins : 

Vitamins Vitamins regulate the processes that go on in your body. Only tiny amounts are needed but they are absolutely essential to the jobs they must do.

Minerals : 

Minerals Minerals are a metallic element essential for normal development and functioning of the body. Examples includes: calcium, iron, phosphorus, iodine and fluoride.

Carbohydrates : 

Carbohydrates Carbohydrates are a compound of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen that is an important source of energy for the body. In the body a carbohydrate is broken down into a simple sugar called glucose and is used for energy or stored in the liver and muscles, or is converted to fat.

Fats/Lipids : 

Fats/Lipids Provide a form of energy. They carry the vitamins A, D, E, and K. Fats come from butter, lard, and vegetable oils. Also in foods such as meats, fish, nuts, egg yolks, milk and milk products, and chocolate milk

Water : 

Water Without water, we could only live for three or four days. It is needed to regulate body processes and control our body temperature. It is that major substance in blood, body fluid and all cells.
