THE NERVOUS SYSTEM The Nervous System : The Nervous System We will now look at the nervous system. The nervous system is responsible for: The nervous system receives messages and sends signals. The Nervous System : The Nervous System The nervous system has many parts. The main parts are the: Brain Spinal Cord Nerves The Nervous system : The Nervous system The nervous system is the system that works with all other systems. Circulatory System Respiratory System Digestive System Skeletal System Muscular System Excretory System Endocrine System The Nervous system : The Nervous system The brain is the most important part of the nervous system. Let’s look at its parts. The Frontal Lobe is responsible for reasoning, planning, parts of speech, and emotions. The Parietal Lobe is concerned with touch, pressure, temperature, and pain sensations. The Temporal Lobe is responsible for perception, hearing, and memory. The Occipital Lobe is concerned with vision. The Nervous System : The Nervous System Here are some other parts of the nervous system. Let’s learn about each. The brain is the control center of the nervous system. The brain receives signals from the other parts of the body. It also sends messages to them using nerves. The nerves carry the signals and messages to and from the brain. The nerve contains dendrites and axons. The dendrite receives the message from the brain and the axon carries the message to a part of the body. The spinal cord is a cord where nerves run as they go from the brain to the rest of the body. This cord is along the spine. Quiz Show : Quiz Show The Nervous System Directions: Access the quiz show by selecting the circle. Click on the screen to reveal the answer. Slide 8: True. The lobes are the: Occipital Lobe Temporal Lobe Frontal Lobe Parietal Lobe True or False: The brain has 4 lobes. Slide 9: True. The nervous system works with all of the other systems. True or False: The nervous system works with all of the other systems. Slide 10: While the others are important, the brain is the center of the nervous system. Which is the center of the nervous system: the spinal cord, the brain, or the nerves? Slide 11: The main function of the nervous system is to send messages and receive signals from the body. What is the main function of the nervous system? You do not have the permission to view this presentation. In order to view it, please contact the author of the presentation.
