Large frontal attacks only good if enemies stayed in one location.
Organized marching order as a group left no worries to foes about reserves attacking when they ambushed main force.
Heavy artillery and long supply trains slowed travel

Change in Tactics Colonial forces in particular learned that the hit and run method was very successful.
Built a series of forts (Forbes on his march from Philadelphia) to provide supplies and reinforcements when needed.
