First find the topic sentence. : First find the topic sentence. A topic sentence is a complete sentence structure, usually is the first sentence in a paragraph, and contains the topic of the paragraph. A topic sentence is the main idea of a paragraph. Then ask yourself what the topic sentence has you wanting to know.For example, if the topic sentence is The enterprising young teenage built his bank account in a most unusual way, then you are reading to find out the specific details of that unusual way. : Then ask yourself what the topic sentence has you wanting to know.For example, if the topic sentence is The enterprising young teenage built his bank account in a most unusual way, then you are reading to find out the specific details of that unusual way.
