Correct Ferrous Non-Ferrous Metals Standards Are Needed For Best Industrial Work Metals are used in huge quantity in several industries in our country. They are integral to several industrial procedures. They are normally categorized into two categories viz ferrous and non-ferrous. The ferrous metals contain irons in them while the non-ferrous metals do not have any iron content. There are several standards for ferrous metals as well as for non-ferrous metals for carrying out any industrial procedure related to them. The standards are developed in order to provide the sufficient information regarding the selection of the correct metals for any industrial procedure. Many industries use a certain grade metal for their purpose. Therefore it is imperative that the right knowledge of the metals should be provided before starting any work using them. The standards help people to define and recognize many characteristics of metals such as:  Compressive and Tensile Strength  Toughness  Corrosion Resistance  Ductility  Fatigue Strength ASTM is one of the leading organization that is involved in the research and development of standards related to the aforementioned products. The organization has several standards that are used in the industry for better work output and a safer work environment. Steel is one of the most used ferrous metals in the world. ASTM has several standards for the proper identification and utilization along with the necessary safety protocols for steel and their related alloys. The most used ASTM standards for steel and their alloys are listed below:  Bearing and Power Transmission Steels  Architectural Metal Fence Systems  Castings  Carbon Steel Tubular Products  Corrugated Steel Pipe Specifications  Flat-Rolled and Wrought Stainless Steel  Mechanical and Chemical Testing and Processing Methods of Steel Products and Processes  Stainless and Alloy Steel Tubular Products

The non-ferrous metals include the likes of aluminium copper silver tungsten lead tin nickel cobalt titanium magnesium and the various alloys of these metals. The popular standards used for these products are listed below:  Aluminium Alloy Ingots and Castings  Aluminium Alloy Wrought Products  Corrugated Aluminium Pipe and Corrugated Aluminium Structural Plate  Molybdenum and Tungsten  Refined Lead Tin Antimony and Their Alloys  Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys  Titanium The ASTM standards for non-ferrous metals are used to provide the correct guidelines that help the various industries in carrying out the right tests and analysis and their correct parameters of using them keeping in mind the safety requirement. ASTM regularly updates these standards to reflect the current changes happened in the several i n d u s t r i e s .
