Premium member Presentation Transcript Talladega EMA : Talladega EMA The Plan in case of a Chemical Emergency at the Anniston Army Depot Slide 2: Winterboro is located in Zone C-13. Shelter in place: : Shelter in place: In the unlikely event of a chemical spill at the Anniston Army Depot, you could be asked to “shelter-in-place.” If this occurs the EMA has a plan: Move inside immediately. Close all windows and doors, locking them. Slide 4: Turn off all ventilation Close any type of air vent. Enter a central room where you have your SIP kit. Cover windows and doors with the plastic and tape inside the SIP kit. Listen to your local EMS station on the radio located in your kit. Slide 5: DO NOT go to your childs school. The schools will protect your children. Slide 6: DO NOT call 911 unless there is a life-threatening situation such as a heart attack. DO NOT go to your child’s school. The schools will protect your children. Evacuation Information : Evacuation Information In the case of an emergency at the Anniston Army Depot the directions to evacuate will be given only if it is believed that everyone will have time to get to a safer area. The evacuation place for the Zone C-13 area (Winterboro) is Slide 8: How to Evacuated: Stay Calm If you are at home assemble your family. If a family member is gone do not wait on them to get back before you leave. Get family into a single vehicle and depart immediately after the EAS message ends. If you are not at home do not return home before evacuating. Slide 9: 6. Do not use the telephones. 7. Take medicines and all other medical essentials 8. Do not attempt to pick up your children at school. Emergency plans have been developed to evacuate students to Winterboro High School on Highway 21 South if needed. Slide 10: 9. If you have neighbors without a vehicle, offer them a ride as space permits. Family Emergency Preparedness Plan : Family Emergency Preparedness Plan Know the Hazards Determine the hazards that could affect you, your family and your community. Determine and remember the zones at home, school, work, and church. Know where to pick up your children, and a secondary place to stay until the emergency is over. Become familiar with emergency plans at work, school, church and other places where your family spends time. Slide 12: Create an Emergency Preparedness Plan Meet with your family and discuss emergency preparedness. Share responsibilities and work together as a team. Establish an out-of-state "family contact.". If family members are separated they can call the out-of-state contact and tell them where they are. Discuss what to do during and after an emergency or disaster. Slide 13: Create an Emergency Preparedness Checklist Post Emergency telephone numbers by the phone. Teach children how and when to call 911. Show family members how and when to turn off water, gas and electricity at the main switches. Stock emergency supplies and prepare an Emergency Preparedness Kit. Determine safe spots in your home for severe weather.
