Do we act like we need God? :

Rev. 3:15b-21 I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’— and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— Do we act like we need God?

I am naked, blind and poor :

…Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. Rev. 3:15-21 I am naked, blind and poor

Jesus said to Him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?” :

John 14:9 Jesus said to Him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?”

40 day challenge :

to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3 40 day challenge

Moses Meets with the LORD :

Exodus 33:11-34:35  7 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend… 17 So the LORD said to Moses, “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.” 18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” 19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you...” Moses Meets with the LORD

The Shining Face of Moses :

Exodus 33:7-34:35  29…when Moses came down from Mount Sinai…Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him... 34 But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. The Shining Face of Moses

“Could you not keep watch for one hour? Keep watching and praying.” Mark14.37-38 The Hour that Changed the World

Inductive Bible Reading :

Who? Where? Why? When? What? How?   Asking the questions of the text trains one to read "Actively" and with curiosity, which will yield nuggets of golden truth buried beneath the surface of the text. Inductive Bible Reading

John 15 :

1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Who is the vine? The vinedresser? 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Who takes away non-bearing fruit? Which branches get pruned? Why? John 15

John 15 :

3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Who was clean? When did they become clean? What and who made them clean? 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. What type of word is “Abide”, here? What are they commanded to do? Where does the branch have to be to be able to bear fruit? What must they abide in to bear fruit? Where does Jesus abide? John 15

John 15 :

5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. Who are the branches? What two things have to happen to bear fruit? How much fruit do they bear? What can they do without Him? John 15

John 15 :

6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. What tense is the word “does” in? What happens to those who do not abide in Him? To where are they cast out? John 15

John 15 :

7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. What do they ask for? What two things will for them to ask what they desire? What will happen when they ask? For whom will it be done? What specifically glorifies His Father? How will they be His disciples? How do they bear much fruit? John 15

some keys :

Mike Shrock: "Looking Ahead", (thinking long term).  Short term minded people tend not to last in the kingdom....they are easily drawn away, and not victorious. Troy Nelson: "Getting Direction from God".   Prayer, listening,  waiting, but not giving up until we have heard.  Charlie Gay: "Him" being the key.  We can get so busy doing things for Him that we can leave Him out altogether. Christians will not be victorious without remembering the source of our victory. Keith Steffen: "Humility" is a key to victorious Christian living since God is opposed to the proud, but give grace to the Humble. Rockie Near: Do what God wants, and do it His way, not our own way. Picture of the Shepherd who breaks a lamb’s leg so as to get the lamb to be completely reliant on Him. Jerry Jones: Be available. Say, “Yes, Lord” before He asks anything of us. The bucket principle: Open. Empty. Clean. Mine. Today: Be in relationship. Think, talk, and minister together, with God and man. some keys
