Premium member Presentation Transcript RAMAYANA: RAMAYANA message for upliftment of you, me, and all….Slide 2: Ramayana is normally seen as a story king and queen, or story of Rama and Sita and…. who were human beings ( manav avtar , as it is said; or super human beings, or God and Goddess as considered) However, Ramayana is not just so. Ramayana has something more to serve.Slide 3: It is a story for upliftment of one and all It is not just a History, but it is ‘ ithihaasa ’. Ithihaasa means it was so, it is so & it will be so. While history only means ‘it was so’ Ramayana is not the history of the land but the ithihaasa of one and all It is not just something which has happened, but it is something which is/will be happening in every oneSlide 4: By saying everyone, it means Chinese, Muslims, Engineers, Kashmiris , longfellows , fatties, ladies, blacks, so-called- shudras etc. etc…. no bar, no discrimination Again, it is purely a story concerned with spiritualitySlide 5: It is the story of the soul. ‘suryasya jagathascha atma’, means sun is the soul of the solar system. Sun is the primary source of energy of the solar system. Without sun, there is no solar system. As such, Sun is the soul of the solar systemSlide 6: Also, while solar system is macrocosm, the human body is microcosm. Also there is a verse which says, “ yath brahmaande thath pinde ” , which means microcosm and macrocosm are analogous Like sun for solar system, human body also has a primary source of energy. That’ soul. Soul is the sun ( surya ) of the human body. Ramayana is the story of the ‘ surya vamsha ’ That means Ramayana is the story of the soul.Slide 7: The geneology of Rama starts with Vishnu, Brahma, …… Harischandra, Rohitashva……… Dasharatha. None of the 52 names in the Geneology has the name ‘surya’. Surya only means soul. Hence Ramayan is the story of the soul.Slide 8: Ramayana talks about the aspects of the energization of the soul. It talks about the hurdles that come in way of the energization of the soul. And, the ultimate way to overcome the same …. all in the form of a wonderful story. Because, anyone can learn better through storiesSlide 9: It is worth recollecting the reason behind the stories of the ‘ panchatantra ’ However, today ONLY stories exists, but the spiritual root (or the moral, as refered to panchatantra ) of the story is forgotten. This presentation is an attempt to give the universal spiritual root of Ramayana.Slide 10: In the present presentation only one concept is taken up. Hope to add on later on, as time permits. The concept taken up here of ‘ Mareecha ’. In the story of Ramayana, Mareecha is a rakshasa .Slide 11: Any ‘ raakshasa ’, anywhere in vedic literature, is a kriya (is an activity, (a verb)) that works against the energization of the soul. Here Mareecha is a raakshasa . We have a similar word (similar to mareecha ) in the local language ( kannada ), called ‘ mareechike ’. Mareechike means mirage.Slide 12: As such all these words, viz., mareecha, mareechike and mirage, means one and the same, an illusion. Briefly, the story…. Mareecha, comes in disguize as a golden deer where Sita, Lakshmana and Rama were dwelling in the forest, during vanavasa . Sita sees this golden deer and pleads Rama for it.Slide 13: Rama runs to catch it, unable to catch it, hits an arrow at it. Mareecha in deer form, comes back to rakshasha form, shouts in the voice of Rama asking for Lakshmana to come and help him. Lakshmana comes…. Sita is alone…. Raavana carries away sita Sita ends up in Lanka.Slide 14: This is the story. What does this story mean, when we talk of spirtuality? Let us know this.Slide 15: Sita means the body, referred to as the ‘ panchabhootha sharira ’ . This body is made of panchabhoothas …. mitti se banaa shareer . The body is made of mud (that is how it is described in spirituality) As such Sita was FOUND in the mud, found when a farmer was tilling the land.Slide 16: Also, finally the shareera , the body goes into the mud. In the story, Ramayana, finally there is an earthquake and sita (only sita ) becomes one with the earth. That is precisely why sita is ‘ shareera ’ the body. Rama is the soul.Slide 17: The body is meant to serve the soul for its elevation, and final ‘ moksha ’. That is what is believed that ‘ moksha ’ is the ultimate aim of human being. Hence the body should serve the soul. But the body called Sita at an instant is behind a mirage. A mirage of the sensual pleasures.Slide 18: Sita is behind sensual pleasures now. Hence she will land up in a place called Lanka.Slide 19: Why Lanka? Lanka does not mean today’s ‘Sri Lanka’. Lanka means, a land of people who are behind sensual preasures , guarded by Lankini , a rakshasi . One may find the meaning of the word Lanka in dictionary too. (Ref.: Revered Kittel’s Kannada-English dictionary)Slide 20: So, the message is that any person behind the mirage called the sensual pleasures, thinking that the sensual pleasure is the ultimate pleasure, and behind it will land up in Lanka. That’s precisely what happened in Ramayana.Slide 21: Hence, a person who looses the energy of the body for the sensual pleasures cannot energize the soul. Is there no way to come back? Yes, there is, it is through ‘ sandhya ’, or in simpler terms through pranayama (a part of sandhya ). In the shloka of sandhya there is a verse “ pranavasya parabrahma rushihi paramaatma devatha , gayathri chandaha pranaayame viniyogaha ”Slide 22: The body ( sita ) can be put back to the track of the soul ( rama ) only with the help of ‘ pranayama ’. Pranayama needs air. There comes hanumantha , the vayu puthra in rescue. Hanumantha is a kapi (monkey). There are a number of kapis in Ramayana. As such each kapi represents a kind of breathing pattern.Slide 23: Hanumantha is that type of breathing pattern which helps uniting of body and soul. Also note, that Hanumantha introduces himself to Sita when he meets her for the first time, through ‘nose ring’. Finally with the help of Hanumantha and vanara sena sita and rama are united back.Slide 24: That is by turning back to spirituality sita and rama are made to unite back. All the trouble was because sita went after the illusious golden deer i.e., running out for sensual pleasures.Slide 25: Running out for sensual pleasures happens in everyone, some time or the other. It is common for human beings. But atleast at one point or the other one should realize. The story Ramayana helps in realizing this. As such it has much more messages. There needs a team which can work untiringly to decode the message of Ramayana.Slide 26: As such Ramayana is for all. Hindus believe it is theirs’. Indian believe that it is India’s. But it is for all. That means it is for Chinese, Muslims, Engineers, Kashmiris , longfellows , fatties, ladies, blacks, so-called- shudras etc. etc…. no bar, no discrimination….. for their upliftment . That’s the message of Ramayana, in short.Slide 27: Your feedback helps us improve upon and think more upon the topic, as this ppt requires a lot of it.
